Achievement unlocked! Lisa Manoban from the K-pop supergroup BLACKPINK was featured on CELINE’s recent Essentiels campaign. Shot personally by the creative director of CELINE, Hedi Slimane, Lisa’s portrait was the first-ever for a K-pop star and the first Asian performer to be selected for the campaign.
In black and white, Lisa was wearing a leather jacket, denim, and white sneakers – the essentials. Hence, the campaign was indeed focusing on CELINE’s seasonless items. The must-haves in all seasons, we must say. And Lisa’s involvement in this campaign created a huge buzz on the internet, amongst her fans, and fashion lovers alike.
A Japanese media outlet reported that the portrait was completed in June 2019, when Lisa was attending CELINE’s Spring Summer 2020 menswear collection fashion show. Lisa returned to Paris in September the same year for the womenswear show and being photographed once again by Hedi Slimane.
As if this was not huge enough, Lisa was also amongst the first three stars (next to Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie) to receive CELINE Le 16 bag, the first CELINE bag designed by Hedi Slimane. Rumors said Lisa was handpicked directly by Hedi to receive the bag.
